SumHan – Blades of Unity

“Sum Han” in the Ghanaian Akan dialect translated as Darkness and light, tells the story of
Bortier, a young swordsman from the mountainous village of Niani, in the Ghana empire. The
village, known for its skilled warriors, is one of many in a region plagued by centuries-old tribal
conflicts. Bortier, having lost his family to the relentless feud between Niani and the neighboring
Gao tribe, harbors deep resentment and a thirst for vengeance. However, his life takes a
dramatic turn when he discovers an ancient prophecy about a warrior destined to unite the
tribes.
Determined to end the cycle of violence, Bortier sets out on a perilous journey to find the
mythical Blades of Darkness and Light, legendary swords said to possess the power to bring
peace. Along the way, he forms an unlikely alliance with Ada, a fierce warrior princess from the
Gao tribe, who shares her desire for a better future. Together, they navigate treacherous
landscapes, face fierce opposition, battle demons and dragons, and uncover hidden truths about
their tribes’ history. “Sum Han” is a gripping tale of courage, reconciliation, and the
