For generations, Africa has been the source of powerful myths, heroic legends, and unforgettable histories. Yet too often, these stories are told through someone else’s lens.
Afrome—short for African Anime—was born to change that.
This is the first installment of a new African animation genre rooted in the creation and reimagining of native African heroes and stories. Stories shaped by our landscapes, our cultures, and our histories—both real and imagined.
Afrome is not just animation. It is a movement. A growing space where African and diasporic storytellers and fans come together to celebrate narratives that look African, sound African, and feel African.
Our goal is simple but ambitious: to build a community around African-centered storytelling, and to grow Afrome into a genre that stands confidently alongside global giants like Japanese anime and American comics—without losing its soul.
